Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Happy Wednesday Friends! Time for another Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce from over at From This Side of the Pond ....this is always such a fun linkup.. join in anytime! Hope you enjoy.

1. The USA will mark Columbus Day on Monday, October 14th this year...what's something you need or want to explore (literally or metaphorically speaking)?

The list is huge but I would want to explore the world, different cultures, places, foods. There is so much and I would love it to just get on a plane and not come back for a long while. I would also love to explore more about my own family. I know where we come from, but it would still be amazing to devote time to learning my family tree more.

2. The Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, or Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty...who do you most love to hate?

Even though we have kids in the house, I was never really into cartoons but I guess it would have to be Ursula from The Little Mermaid. That's the one that I remember really good. I also remember my mom telling me that Ursula reminded her of my grandmother on my dads side! Ha!

3. Is open-mindedness a virtue?

I think for the most part it is. I still have a lot to learn about this in my own political views and I am sure in other areas too. I try to consider all points but there are times when its hard to keep that open mind. I think each of us could probably work on this a bit more!

4. How often do you weigh yourself?

I never weigh myself. I really mean NEVER. Unless the Dr is doing it, I just don't do it. Not because I don't want to see my weight but because I don't need a scale to tell me a number. I can feel it in my body and in my clothes if I put on weight. I just see the point in worrying about a number!

5. This question comes to you courtesy of Rebecca over at Making Memories, so thanks Rebecca!Costa Rica was recently named the happiest country in the world on The Happy Planet Index.  What's the happiest country in the world to you, and what makes it so?

Well Sweden was at the top of that list for a loooong time. I think I would love to give it a try but Costa Rica sounds nice too. However, I actually have friends in Sweden and even though I am not always happy about cold weather, I would still go and see if its really true about it being one of the happiest places to live in.

6. Besides The Bible, what is one book you think should be mandatory reading for every high school student?

I have no idea what ONE book they should also read....there are so many! But I think one about manners would be nice. Kids now days really need life classes on manners and etiquette. Starting with my own kids!

7. I went shopping at some nearby outlets last week, and while I was there, I picked up a couple of Christmas gifts. How about you? Have you started your holiday shopping yet?

Nope. I don't normally buy early holiday gifts because 2 of the kids have October birthdays and the other 2 have birthdays in November. So we still have other gifts to do first!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I am here with husby today taking it pretty easy! The last few days I have spent a lot of time working on a new blog design. I still have a few changes to make, but I hope you like it! Let me know if you have any problems using it. I almost went for something a bit more girly but this current design is so efficient and easy to use. Besides desk work today, I am taking it easy because its always so hard to get motivated when he's just laying around the house. I think for tonight's dinner, I am making a huge pot of Chili that we can eat on for a few days. Cooler weather brings comforting hearty meals which I really really enjoy! I hope you all are having a wonderful afternoon!

  1. I love learning about my family tree, my dad set up an entire family tree from the late 1800's! Its fun but it can be a frustrating process, if you can't find someone .. or someones name etc.

  2. I loved your answer to #2 and your mom's remark about grandma. She must have been a real piece of work.

Thank you so much for your comment. I love hearing from you! It takes me a minute to moderate the comments so it should show up shortly.
