Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Happy Wednesday Friends! Time for another Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce from over at From This Side of the Pond ....this is always such a fun linkup.. join in anytime! Hope you enjoy.

1. My daughter earned her Master's Degree this past weekend...what's something you've 'mastered' in recent weeks or months?

Well, I have been mastering the art of organization around here. I hate it when I can't find things. With the kids taking over last summer, nothing is where it belongs and its been driving me nuts! So I have been on a mission to get things in the right places and organized. Honestly, it feels good!

2. What song most reminds you of your childhood?

I can't think of a childhood song except my dad ( grandfather) would go around the house whistling... All the time! So now that he's gone.. every whistle I hear reminds me of him.

3. What do you think about single gender groups and/or events? Should every group/event be open to both genders?  If not, what sort of exceptions do you think are appropriate?

Honestly, I don't really see a problem with it either way. I don't think every group has to be for both.. sometimes its great to bond with the same sex people... and other times its a good thing for everyone to be together. I think it depends on the event, the age of the people.. but I don't see a problem either which way!

4. What's your favorite spice? Your favorite dish containing your favorite spice?

The Perfect Ambience
I have a bunch of spices.. fresh and dried. I would have to say that Thyme is probably my favorite of all. I use it in almost everything! I have also been loving loving loving fried fresh bay leaves. OMG.. if you have not tried it that way.. you are going to be shocked at how good they are. Just melt some butter.. add the fresh leaves... and let them fry for just a few seconds.. put on paper towel to dry.. and enjoy! I love them sprinkled over sweet potato fries.. YUMMMMM!!!!

5.  I saw this question on Marla's facebook page and asked if I could steal borrow it for the Hodgepodge...thanks Marla!

Chevron patterns are everywhere!  Do you like it or think its just a little too much? Do you own anything 'chevron'?

I am not a huge fan of that pattern and I don't think I own anything chevron. Yea.. just not my thing.

6.  What's something you disliked as a child, but can fully appreciate now?

I know this is being answered with mostly food answers but for me it is vacuuming. My grandfather would make me help.. and I would go super fast binging and banging that vacuum into all the furniture, not caring. He would always try to scream louder than the vacuum instructing me not to hit the furniture. Now.. I take my time and I don't beat my own furniture up! I totally appreciate what he was saying now.{ Sorry dad for not taking better care of your things. I miss you }

7. What can irritate you very quickly?

Loudness. I don't like loud noises.. so the dog barking, kids screaming, husby keeping the tv up very high, loud cars.. you get the idea. All of those things can irritate me very fast!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Today we are heading out in just bit to go meet my sons 5th grade teacher... which he is not too happy about! Husby is coming home from work to go with us. When we were there a few weeks ago to get him registered.. it was an awful unorganized mess. Lets hope teacher day is easier! Ohh and our older kids will be here tomorrow night with the grandbabies.. I can't wait to see them all!

I hope you guys have a wonderful Wednesday!

  1. Fried bay leaves? Interesting. Do you crumble them or keep them whole? I didn't know you could eat them, I always throw them away after using them in a soup broth.

  2. I've never tried frying bay leaves, but I like their flavor so will give it a try. My daughter is a new teacher this year, and meets her students/parents on Monday. She is so excited, and also super organized : ) Have a nice weekend!

Thank you so much for your comment. I love hearing from you! It takes me a minute to moderate the comments so it should show up shortly.
